The Mashpee Recreation Department stages their celebration of the Fourth of July a few days early every year to prevent conflicts with other local communities. The community picnic and fireworks are on Sunday, July 1, at Mashpee High School on Old Barnstable Road.

The event features live music, a dog show, a moon bounce, an obstacle course, train rides, face painting, local food vendors and a fireworks display at dusk.

Residents are encouraged to bring their own blankets, food, and chairs for a picnic or to buy food from the carnival-style vendors and food trucks.

The celebration starts at 5:00 pm and lasts until the grand finale of the fireworks is finished.

This community event is organized by the Mashpee Special Events Committee. It is sponsored by the Town of Mashpee, Roche Brothers, Mashpee Wampanoag Tribe, Botello Lumber Company, Sea Mist Resort, Dr. Craig Jones, Chapman, Cole & Gleason, Mashpee Dental Associates, Hy-Line Cruises, Asia, Mashpee Family Medicine & Mashpee Congregational Church.

The rain date is July 2.

Here is some more information from the recreation department website.
