Quincy celebrates America in a slightly different manner than any other community in the state. Since everybody else celebrates the Fourth of July with parades and fireworks, Quincy moved those festivities to Flag Day. This year marks the celebration’s 62nd anniversary.
This year the events will be held on Saturday, June 16, 2018. The parade starts at 7:00 at the intersection of Hancock and Coddington Streets. The parade route is 1.2 miles long and winds through town, ending up appropriately at Pageant Field.
At the field, the community raises a gigantic 30′ X 60′ American flag to start the party. There’s also a fly-over, a patriotic medley, an awards presentation, and a spectacular fireworks show over Black’s Creek,
The fireworks are scheduled to begin at about 9:15 pm.
For more information on the celebration, see the town site.
