Hingham July 4th Fireworks Notes
We love this town and we love this celebration. Everyone that we met was exceptionally helpful and kind. The entire event was well organized. The police department did such a good job of managing and directing traffic that we had no problem getting out of town and back to our hotel for the night.
Here are the details of the fireworks show from our event listing this year.
Hingham celebrates the fourth of July with two days of celebrations. The fireworks are part of a community event hosted by the local Lion’s Club. The event begins at 3:00 pm at the Hingham Harbor Gazebo. Children’s and family activities include patriotic face painting, a bounce house, balloons and more. At 5:00 pm the pre-concert music starts. At 7:00 pm, there’s a live concert and the fireworks begin at dusk, which should be about 9:15 pm.
Families are invited to bring chairs and blankets to the park.
The other 4th of July events include a parade and a road race that will be held on Monday, July 4, 2016. Note, in 2016, the fireworks were delayed for some time and did not start until about 9:45. We think that it might have been because the wind was so strong. That same wind blew so many cinders into our faces that we had to wear glasses to protect our eyes and some of our neighbors left early because they were so bad. The best place to watch the fireworks is around the gazebo where the concerts are held. That is also where the food and restrooms are located.
