Today we’re updating our North Jersey Fireworks Guide for 2012. We’ll be adding more to the listings constantly from now until the 4th of July. This is one of our most popular features and we work all year getting ready for this big day.
We travel to fireworks displays all over the state and we’ve included some of our favorite photographs from our travels. We hope you enjoy them. If you have any that you’d like to share, let us know and we’ll post yours too. If you want to help us, please leave a comment below. We would love to hear your tips about fireworks and celebrations in your neck of the woods. If you have a question about a July 4th event, just ask it below. Ridgewood NJ Fireworks & Fourth of July Celebration
Wednesday, July 4, 2012: This is one of our favorite fireworks displays in the entire state. It is a great little show put on by a warm and open community! The Fire Department is one of the main reasons that this celebration is so successful here. They show up with a giant rig and display one of the largest American Flags that I’ve ever seen. It must measure at least 50 feet tall. Ridgewood New Jersey is celebrating the 102nd anniversary of their July 4th festival and the theme this year is Born in New Jersey. The day begins at 9:00 AM with a flag raising, the singing of the Star Spangled Banner. At 10:00 there will be an Independence Day Parade featuring local rescue and emergency squads, antique cars, bands, The Orpheus Men’s Chorus of Ridgewood, the New York Scottish Pipes, the New Jersey Tea Party Coalition, Ridgewood Choral and the Heard’s Brigade of the New Jersey Militia. Later that day, at 6:30 the gates open at Veteran’s Field for performances by the Illumination Twirlers, The Manhattan Dolls and the Fallin’ Angels Skydivers. The festivities are introduced by mayor Killion. The grand finale is the fireworks show put on by Fireworks Extravaganza. The fireworks go off after the gates are closed at 9:00 PM.
