Bourne Massachusetts is located in Barnstable County, at the northern end of Cape Cod where it joins the mainland. It was settled in 1640 and founded in 1884. The Cape Cod Canal that runs through the middle of the town opened here in 1914.

Where to go and what to see:
- Boune Bridge: The bridge spans the Cape Cod Canal on Route 28.
- Sagamore Bridge: The bridge spans the Cape Cod Canal on US Route 6.
- Aptucxet Trading Post Museum and Windmill: Home of the historical society, the museum features the salt works, a wildflower garden, the Gray Gables Railroad Station, an art studio and a gift shop. The trading post is our nation’s oldest store. It is open from Memorial Day to Columbus Day.
- Wing’s Neck Lighthouse: This historic lighthouse on Buzzard’s Bay was built in 1848. It is now a vacation rental.
What to do:
- Concerts in the Park: This summer concert series takes place at the Buzzards Bay Park Gazebo on Main Street. The series is staged in July and August.
- May Day: Event is held at the Aptucxet Trading Post
- Strawberry Festival: Event is held at the trading post in June.
- Trolley Tours: Tours run in July and August.
- Christmas Tree Lighting and Carol Sing: This annual event is held in Cataumet.
