Cape Cod Christmas Dinner – Where to go on Christmas Eve & Christmas Day

Our Cape Cod Christmas Dinner feature is new today, December 11, 2017. This year the story is moving to our new Cape Cod Website. We will update this feature as we find new restaurants for holiday dinners. For those of you looking for last-minute options, you can check out our listings for take-out holiday dinners at the bottom of the story.

Villaggio Ristorante in Cotuit

Villaggio is serving dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. The hours for Christmas Eve are 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm and for Christmas Day, the hours are 12:00 noon to 8:00 pm. Chef Jay Bartolomei is serving his regular menu. Some highlights from his menu include Eggplant Rollatini with ricotta, crumbled gorgonzola and a creamy pesto, a 24 ounce Bone-in Rib Eye, a 10 ounce Filet Mignon, Parmigiana with eggplant, chicken or veal ($20-24) and a Veal Piccata with garlic, shallots, Italian herbs, capers and a white wine lemon butter sauce ($26).

Barnstable Restaurant and Tavern on Main Street

Barnstable is serving dinner on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. On Christmas Eve they open at 11:30 for lunch. Dinner will be served from 4:00 pm until 9:00 pm. They will be serving their regular menu with some holiday specials. On Christmas Day, they’re serving a 3-course dinner that ranges in price from $35.00 to $45.00 each. Highlights from the menu include New Brunswick Salmon ($45), a Roasted Chicken Breast ($39), Braised, Beef Burgundy ($43), and a Three Cheese Lasagna ($35). Other items on the menu include Clam Chowder, Caesar Salad, Bourbon Pecan Pie and Warm Apple Pie with Vanilla Ice Cream.

Sea Crest in Falmouth

The Sea Crest Beach Hotel in North Falmouth is hosting a Christmas Brunch Buffet on Christmas Day from 11:30 am to 3:00 pm. The holiday buffet features hot and cold stations with Carved Christmas Ham, Waffles, Traditional Eggs Benedict with Lemon Chive Hollandaise, Smoked Salmon, Black Truffle and Fontina Stuffed Free Range Chicken, Jumbo Shrimp, Omelets made to order, Artisanal Breads, Alaskan Crab Claws, Bacon, Imported Cheeses, Winter Melons, Organic Winter Greens with Blue Cheese, Toasted Hazelnuts and Dried Fruit, Fresh Baked Pastries, salads and more. The price is $38.00 per person and $18.00 for children 12 years of age and under. Tables are available and reservations are being taken. Their online reservation page shows lots of availability.

Cape Cod Christmas Dinner – Christmas Eve

P. B. Boulangerie in Wellfleet

P. B. is featuring a Seven Fishes Dinner for Christmas Eve. The Prix Fixe dinner for $78.00 per person features three courses. Highlights of the dinner include Ravioli de Foie Gras, a Charcuterie Board, Champagne Pate, and House Smoked Salmon. For entrees, there’s a Seafood Plateau with Shrimp Salad, Clams, Tuna Tartare, Oysters and a Lobster Citrus Salad. You can also choose a Pineland Farm Sirloin or a Dover Sole Meuniere. For dessert, there’s a Buche de Noel. The restaurant is also offering a take-out Christmas Eve dinner for six people for $280.00. See more.

Red Pheasant Inn in Dennis

The Red Pheasant is open on Christmas Eve and featuring their regular menu. Highlights of the menu include Miso Glazed Salmon (27), Grilled Pineland Farms Sirloin (34) and Cassoulet (28). All reservations are taken by phone at 508-385-2133. See more.

Oysters Too in East Falmouth

Oysters Too is serving dinner on Christmas Eve with a special menu with a la carte pricing. Highlights from the menu include a Sole Menemsha with carrots, snow peas, shitake mushrooms, topped with lobster meat and scallops (29.95), Prime Rib (32.95), and a Lazy Lobster (33.95). Our Cape Cod Thanksgiving story has moved and it is updated all the time, while this one is three years old. For those of you looking for a last-minute restaurant for dinner, we can only advise you to call every restaurant on the list to see if they can find an early or late table or get you on a waiting list. If that doesn’t work, you might want to check out your local supermarket to see if they have take-out dinners available for Thursday.

Thanksgiving is one of the most anticipated family events of the year and sometimes the most stressful. To make your holiday celebrations a little easier, these Cape Cod restaurants are open to serve you and your family delicious holiday dinners without all the work.

Our guide covers the full range of offerings, from the simple to the extravagant, from P-town to Sandwich. We organize our listings by region like this: Outer Cape – Provincetown, Truro, Wellfleet, Eastham; Lower Cape – Orleans, Chatham, Brewster, Harwich; Mid Cape – Dennis, Yarmouth, Barnstable; Upper Cape: Mashpee, Sandwich Falmouth, Bourne.

The Pointe Restaurant in Provincetown

The Pointe is celebrating Thanksgiving with a four-course dinner that includes soup, salad, entree and dessert for $54.95 per person. You’ll get your choice of Turkey, Grilled Salmon or Seared Tofu for your entree. They will be serving from 1:00 to 7:00 pm. The dinner comes with all the fixings like Chestnut & Date Stuffing, and Green Beans Almondine. There might not be tables available, but you can find out on their site. See More.

Red Inn in Provincetown:

The Red Inn in Provincetown has been welcoming guest to the Cape since 1915. For Thanksgiving, they are offering a fabulous 4-course prix fixe dinner for $90.00 per person. The dinner features soup, salad, entree, and dessert. Highlights include Lobster Corn Chowder, Pan Roasted Local Cod, Savory Vegetable Bread Pudding, Roasted Turkey with French Bread Stuffing and Ginger-Cranberry Relish, Savory Vegetable Bread Pudding, Smoked Long Island Duck, Lamb Chops, Local Codd, and Pepper Crusted Filet. P. B. Boulangerie in Wellfleet

P. B. is offering a slightly different menu for Thanksgiving. The Wellfleet restaurant-bistro has a Prix Fixe Thanksgiving Dinner with three courses for $75.00. The menu features items like a Fall Artisanal Salad, a Homemade Pate, Foie Gras and Black Truffle Ravioli, Escargots De Bourgogne, Wasabi Pea Encrusted Yellowfin Tuna, Wellfleet Coconut Curry Clams, Monsieur Marin 12 oz Black Angus Ribeye with Steak Frites and of course a Turkey Dinner with Sweet Potato Gratin, Apricot and Sausage Stuffing and Braised Greens. For the dessert course, they are serving an apple pie with homemade Madagascar Vanilla Ice Cream. The dinner is also available for takeout. Chillingsworth in Brewster:

Chillingsworth is offering a wide range of items for Thanksgiving. You’ll find a traditional turkey dinner, tenderloin, fish, lobster and vegetarian dinners with complimentary pates, charcuterie, and cheeses. There are two seatings for the dinner; one at 2:00 pm and another at 6:00 pm. There is a children’s menu available also. Regular pricing is in effect for this dinner. See more.

L’Alouette in Harwich Port

L’Alouette is the spot to find Thanksgiving dinner with a French flair on Cape Cod. The restaurant is fully booked for this year. See more.

Bramble Inn Now the Spinnaker in Brewster:

The Bramble Inn has been sold. It is now the Spinnaker. The restaurant is closed until the day after Thanksgiving.

Cape Cod Thanksgiving: Mid Cape

Old Yarmouth Inn in Yarmouth Port

The Old Yarmouth Inn offers a wide range of delightful choices for Thanksgiving from a traditional turkey feast to Filet Mignon with Bacon. Prices range from $39.00 to $49.00 per person. Unfortunately, the restaurant is fully booked for the holiday and is not accepting any more reservations. You can get on their waiting list if you would like. See more.

Yarmouth House in Yarmouth

Yarmouth House has been serving the families of Cape Cod since 1978 and for Thanksgiving, they are offering five different holiday dinners that come complete with soup or salad, smashed potatoes, butternut squash, creamed peas with onions and dessert. You can choose from a Roast Tom Turkey with Apple Sage Dressing, a Baked Virginia Ham, Roast Leg of Lamb, a Holiday Sampler Dinner with turkey, ham, and lamb or a Haddock Picatta. Hearth & Kettle in Yarmouth & Hyannis:

Hearth and Kettle restaurants are known for their All-American holiday dinners. For Thanksgiving, they are offering one of the best bargains on the Cape. Their Roast Turkey Dinner that comes in at $25.99, includes turkey, cranberry sage dressing, cranberry sauce, corn chowder or salad, mashed potatoes, butternut squash, peas with onions, bread, and dessert. You can also choose Prime Rib, Ham or Broiled Scrod for a slightly higher price, up to $29.99. See more.

Villaggio serves holiday dinners throughout the year and for Thanksgiving, they are offering three seatings: one at noon, another at 2:00, and a final seating at 4:00 pm. The Dan’l Webster has been hosting celebrations on Cape Cod for centuries. For Thanksgiving, they are offering a traditional Turkey Dinner with all the fixings for $41.95. The holiday feast includes soup, salad, bread, turkey with all the fixings, Mashed Potatoes, Maple Glazed Butternut Squash, Peas & Mushrooms, and desserts like Maple Pecan Pie and Warm Apple Crisp with Vanilla Ice Cream. Nauset Farms is a bakery, a butcher, a market, a deli, a wine shop, and more. For Thanksgiving, you can have them bake your turkey or pick up a fully prepared dinner with all the trimmings. You can get a deconstructed turkey for $20.00, a Plainville Fresh Turkey for $3.69 per pound, Farm Cranberry Sauce for $7.99 per pint, or try some Eastham Turnip Mash at market price. The meal includes a 10-pound Roasted Turkey, Herb Stuffing, Mashed Potatoes, Organic Turkey Gravy, Green Beans with Crispy Garlic and Parsley, and Organic Cranberry-Orange Relish. Thanksgiving Tips from a Retired Chef

My partner, Val Gerischer worked as a chef in restaurants in Pennsylvania and New Jersey for over thirty years. Most of those years, he was in the kitchen on Thanksgiving day and offers these quick tips for dining out on Thanksgiving Day.

  • Reserve your table for early in the day so that you get the freshest turkey and avoid the crowds that tend to pack in around mid to late afternoon.
  • If you are a real fan of turkey and dressing and hate crowds, just reserve your table for the day after Thanksgiving. You’ll pay a lot less for the same dinner, avoid the noise and fuss of a busy restaurant.
  • Save a little of your holiday dinner so that you can have one of those yummy day-after-Thanksgiving sandwiches with turkey, cranberry sauce, and mayonnaise.
  • Finally, if you are cooking Thanksgiving dinner at home, please don’t get too creative or too fussy with your menu. This is one of those holidays that people want classic American turkey, dressing and cranberry sauce like Grandma used to make. Stick with the basics on this day and go foodie-gourmand crazy next week.

My Cape Cod Story

“If you’re fond of sand dunes and salty air . . . ’’

By six years old I was a goner. I was head over heels in love with Cape Cod, and my love affair has never gone away. Back when I was a fresh-faced little kid, the trek to the Cape from New Jersey took a whole lot longer than it does today. In the wee hours of the morning, my father would stealthily carry me and my brother’s (nearly) sleeping forms into our spiffy green station wagon. As we edged into the early morning darkness, my dad naively hoped we’d sleep until the sun came up over the Sagamore Bridge. No such luck. Before we ever hit Boston, he’d hear a chorus of “are we there yet’s” and “I’m hungry’s.” My mother doled out the snacks to hold us over, but there was no way to hold back our excitement. My parents were doomed.

Utopia was a small group of weathered shingle cottages, complete with shuffleboard and concrete pool, nestled in a copse of towering pines. There was no air conditioning, but we slept like hibernating bear cubs in open window bedrooms, cooled by scented nights. I can still picture the Nancy Drew mysteries and games of Old Maid on the beach, and the iconic footprints carved in the Barefoot Trader’s cement walkway. My mouth still waters for the signature popovers served piping hot at the old Chase House. Friday nights, it was tradition to wander the main street of Hyannis past an endless booty of gift and candy shops. Not one to ever bask in the sun now, my lightly sunburned, sandy childhood skin is imprinted in my memory. Decked out in a gaudily printed swim tube and bathing cap (yes, I did), I paddled contently in the Cape’s salty Atlantic waters; the same waters that churned up reams of multi-hued taffy. To this day, I can still see my father’s surprised face as he tasted his first (and last) spoonful of Indian pudding. Far from the creamy concoction he envisioned, the sturdy cornmeal dessert was an epic fail. Luckily, my brother and I opted for ice cream.

My Cape Cod story only becomes richer and more colorful with time. There was and still is something immensely magical about the dollhouse-like homes draped with rambling roses, framed with picket fences. From luscious homemade ice cream to my first taste of lobster, the elegance of Chatham to the coastal magic of Provincetown, I couldn’t get enough. I still can’t.

Through the years, my tastes changed as my household did. From being one of four to having three of my own little Cape Cod visitors, the island has always meant ‘family’ to me. It just changed hands. From the kid who ran barefoot through pine needles with an ice pop, I was suddenly the grownup riding herd on beach passes, wet towels, and pails of hermit crabs. Yuck. I kept blankets stacked and ready for Wellfleet drive-in nights, shovels for sandcastles and change for games of mini-golf. But few things still can compare to the prehistoric awe of watching an enormous whale breech deep waters or seeing your kids scale the sand dunes of Provincetown like clones of Lawrence of Arabia.

That’s when it happened. My adult eyes had begun to appreciate the real beauty of the place, the reason it has always been an addiction for me. I saw beyond the trinkets to the periwinkle blue hydrangeas that somehow never grew in MY yard that way. I stood in awe at the stark calm of beaches that stretched wide with mudflats where the tides went out as far as the eye could see. The take-your-breath-away wonder of this seaside oasis had settled in for good, and the now matured-me felt like I was truly home. As years went by, the spirit of this graphic designer/writer became intoxicated by the creativity that drenched every part of the island. It seemed every pinecone, foaming wave, cranberry field and bobbing sailboat come vibrantly alive. My transformed self was slowly drawn to a different Cape, an authentic, priceless one. Away from the oceanside tee-shirt shops and clam shacks to the tree lined 6A, where Brewster and Barnstable live in quiet beauty. Who knew that sea captains’ houses, lolling fishing boats, and lush, charming roads would later be my jam?

I haven’t seen ‘my’ Cape in awhile now. My husband and ad agency partner died a year ago, and I haven’t yet scaled the emotional bridge to return where two made memories only one will now. But, make no mistake, this boomer beach girl will return very soon. No one loves a succulent lobster roll more than a Cape Cod-addicted wash ashore.

We’ve been working on the Cape Cod Fireworks list for the past several weeks and we think that we’ve got everything covered pretty well. You might not agree. You might know of some small town fireworks display that we missed. Please write us with your corrections, complaints and additions. We want to hear from you.

We list the rain date for most of the events, the location whether it be at the local school or the town park and we provide a link to the town site or recreation department site so that you can always get more information.

One note of caution, we verify our information and we double-check everything. We do make mistakes and sometimes the event date, time or location changes at the last-minute. We implore you to verify the details of the event, either on the town’s website or their Facebook page before you make a long trip or make big plans. We want to help you and your family have a great holiday!

First Night Massachusetts Guide

Our First Night Massachusetts Guide is new today, December 31, 2016. We are quite late in getting this story published, but we wanted to get the feature out there and established for next year. There are first night celebrations all over the state of Massachusetts from Chatham to Worchester and Boston. Here’s our list for this year.

First Night Boston

Boston’s first night celebration is the oldest one in the state. It premiered in 1976. This celebration features early and late events that are designed to meet the needs of two distinct audiences. The early events run from noon to 4:00 pm and more geared towards families and children. These events lead up to an early fireworks display over Boston Common at 7:00 pm. The Countdown to Copley fireworks and light show take place at midnight. There are concerts and performances at venues all day long and all the events are free. Find out more.

First Night Worchester

Worchester’s first night is celebrating its 35th year. The festivities include folk music, jazz, choral groups, Irish dance groups, rock, bag pipe bands, bluegrass, country music, blues, thetrical performances, puppet shows, dance, ice sculptures, magic shows, bounce houses, acrobats, movies and more. The night comes to a close with a fireworks show at 11:15 pm from the top of Bell Hill. Admission is free with the purchase of a button for $10.00 to $15.00 each. Find out more.

First Night Beverly

Beverly is moving their celebration this year to Friday, December 30, 2016. The festivities this year all carry a Pokemon theme. Highlights from the events include face painting, kid’s arts and crafts, Irish Dancers, teen bands, curious creatures, juggling, party music, a magic show, a grand procession and the kid’s countdown and beach ball drop. First Night Chatham

First Night Chatham is celebrating their twenty-sixth year on December 31, 2016. The fun begins at noon and continues till dusk when the fireworks go off at Veterans Field. The event celebrates the arts and culture of the region and takes place at locations all over town. Early highlights of the festivities include an annual town photo that is taken at the Chatham Lighthouse, a bubble wrap stomp, and a Carnival Caper costumed road race. There’s also a concert with the Cape Cod Jazz Quartet at the Orpheum Theater, miniature golf at the Community Center Gym, Bradley James at the Congregational Church, Keltic Kids at St. Christopher’s Chapel. You’ll also find Cirque du Jour at the Middle School Large Gym, Chinese Folk Dancers at the Middle School Auditorium, Ryder Martin’s Fabulous Trains at Atwood House Museum, and Horse Drawn Wagon Rides at Town Hall. Later in the day, there is a Noise Parade, early evening, low-level fireworks at Veteran’s field for children that can’t wait till midnight, and finally the Countdown Cod and fireworks on Oyster Pond at midnight.

First Night Chatham Buttons are available for $20.00 each. Children’s buttons are available for $5.00 each for children between the ages of 3 to 11 years old. Find out more.

First Night Sandwich

First Night Sandwich celebrates its fifth year in 2017. The festivities begin at 4:00 pm on Saturday, December 31, 2016. This family-friendly event is a non-alcoholic celebration of the arts. Some of the performances include Mamadou, a five piece African band playing at town hall, The Green Briar Nature Center puppets at 1st Church, and Woodhall/Jackson Folk Music at C.W.’s. You’ll also find the Cape Cod Guitar Ensemble at Sandwich Glass Museum, Vernon Parris Steel Drums at the library, and the Highland Light Scottish Pipe Band at the Masonic Lodge.

There will also be ice sculptures, a children’s ice skating rink, lighted giants in the village and along Route 6A, children’s crafts, a fairy garden, and a Resolution Wall. The Reveler’s Parade starts at 8:00 pm. Lineup begins at 7:00 pm at Wing School. The parade route winds through town and ends up at First Church and Shawme Pond. The night concludes with the fireworks display over the pond. The finale features the lighting of the giant sea creature sculptures, a cannon firing and a fireworks display on Shawme Pond.

First Night Sandwich buttons can be purchased at locations all over town. The buttons grant you admission to all of the night’s events. The cost is $10.00 each for adults and $6.00 each for children, ages 3 to 12 years old. Buttons can also be purchased at Sandwich Town Hall on Saturday beginning at 3:00 pm. Find out more.

First Light Provincetown

First Light in Provincetown is a five-day celebration that includes a polar bear plunge, a winter farmers market, dances, brunches, ice skating, a Sound of Music Sing-Along and fireworks on Sunday, January 1, 2017.

Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights of the events for each day of the festival.

  • Thursday, December 29, 2016 Lunch and dinner at many local restaurants, live entertainment at Tin Pan Alley, Cabaret at Provincetown Theater, and Karaoke at Club Purgatory
  • Friday, December 30, 2016 Friday, you’ll find events like holiday breakfasts, brunches, lunches and dinners at local restaurants, Family Pizza Night at the library, and Edenville in concert at the Sage Inn. Also, there’s a Sound of Music Sing-a-Long with the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence at Town Hall, Cabaret at Provincetown Theater, live music at Tin Pan Alley and Crown & Anchor. There will also be holiday dances, and a Holiday Market at the Canteen with Hanukkah food and festivities, vendors, artisans and more.
  • Saturday, December 31, 2016 (early) Saturday, you’ll find holiday breakfasts, brunches, lunches and dinners at local restaurants, and the Provincetown Farmers Market at Town Hall. The Holiday Market at Canteen will feature local vendors, artisans, performers, grilled sausages, hot soups, soft pretzels and more. Later you might enjoy New Year’s Drag Bingo at the Crown & Anchor, Wicked Wonderland at the Art House, or a Light Bright Bike Ride at Town Hall (decorated bicycles in a parade competing for prizes). There will also be special New Year’s Eve Dinners at Tin Pan Alley, Jimmy’s Hideaway, Mac’s Fish House, Central House, and Spindler’s.
  • Saturday, December 31, 2016 – PTown New Year’s Eve Dances There will be jubilant dances and celebrations all over town. Strangers and Saints throws a party with dance music, cocktails, light snacks, party favors, a champagne toast and a brunch buffet at midnight. Jim Brousseau plays piano at Tin Pan Alley. VJ Tom Yaz plays the best videos; Bobby Weatherbee plays piano and DJ Chris Racine plays the latest dance hits at the Crown & Anchor. DJ Beth O plays at Sage Inn. DJ Dave plays at Club Purgatory. And finally there’s a New Year’s Eve Party with DJ David LaSalle, Thirsty Burlington, hats, noisemakers and a champagne toast for a $10.00 cover charge at A-House.
  • Sunday, January 1, 2017 New Year’s Day you can enjoy holiday breakfasts, brunches, lunches and dinners at local restaurants or the Provincetown Farmers Market at Town Hall. The Holiday Market at Canteen continues with local vendors, artisans, performers, grilled sausages, hot soups, soft pretzels and more. There will also be a Family Picnic Lunch at the library, a film screening of “All We Had” at Water’s Edge Cinema, and an Art opening at Rosewind Gallery at Sage Inn. Later you can watch the Polar Bear Plunge with cocktails, chili, hot chocolate and coffee at the beach at Johnson Street, or take in the Wicked Winter Wonderland at Provincetown Art House. As the day comes to a close, you’ll find Fireworks Cocktail Parties at Crown & Anchor and Spindler’s. The day comes to a grand finale moment with Provincetown’s First Light Fireworks at MacMillian Pier at dusk (approximately between 5:00 and 6:00 pm)
  • Sunday, January 1, 2017 (after the fireworks) The party continues in PTown after the fireworks with cocktails, buffets and dinner at local restaurants and bars, and the Rat Pack Gala at Provincetown Theater. There’s also the John Thomas & Paul Bisaccia Piano Concert at UU Meeting House, Zoe Lewis on piano at Tin Pan Alley, and dancing at A-House. Finally, there’s Suede’s Annual New Year’s Concert at Crown & Anchor.
  • Monday, January 2, 2017 Monday the festivities continue with more breakfasts, brunches, and lunches at local restaurants, The Holiday Market continues for one last day at Canteen with local vendors, artisans, performers, grilled sausages, hot soups, soft pretzels and more. The final event of the festival is the Tin Pan Alley Closing Party with live entertainment.

New Bedford New Year’s Eve

New Bedford celebrates the coming of the New Year with a full evening of family friendly activities that are all free. This First Night New Bedford type event features stilt walkers, live music, ice sculptures, local food vendors, fire eaters, and a fireworks display at 8:30 pm at State Pier. The events start at 5:00 pm near Custom House Square. The fireworks are best seen from lower Union Street from Route 18 to North Water Street.

There is also a special New Year’s Eve Bash at the New Bedford Whaling Museum presented by the Zeiterion Performing Arts Center. The Bash features live music by the Becky Chase Band and Dori Rubbicco, food by Russell Morin Caterers, a champagne toast, cash bar, roaming performers, a fortune teller and children’s entertainment. Visitors will also have an incredible front row view of the fireworks along the waterfront. The event runs from 7:00 pm to 10:00 pm. Tickets are $50.00 each for adults and $15.00 each for children under the age of 12.

First Night Cape Cod: Fireworks, Concerts, Dances, Parades & More

You can celebrate First Night Cape Cod in many ways this weekend. Three different Cape communities ring in the new year in very different ways.




Sandwich First Night is known for its reveler’s parade and its lighted giants. The giants are large light sculptures that are set up in town during the holiday season. In Chatham, there are two different fireworks displays. There’s an early one for the kids and another one at midnight that accompanies the dropping of the Countdown Cod. In Provincetown, the celebrating goes on for days and concludes with the only fireworks display on New Year’s Day. The Sandwich and Chatham festivities are traditional non-alcoholic First Night events and the Provincetown one is not.

The British Beer Company and the Seaside Inn in Falmouth have joined together to offer you a great package for New Year’s Eve. The first course includes your choice of appetizers like a Baked Brie Enfant with petite puff pastry encased brie mouse, warm plum soup and baguette slices for dipping and a Caesar Bouquet with Romaine wrapped with a Euro Cucumber Belt, Ruth’s Caesar Dressing, Imported Marinated White Anchovies, Pecorino Romano Cheese and Brioche Crumbles. First Night Chatham

First Night Chatham is celebrating their twenty-sixth year on December 31, 2016. The fun begins at noon and continues till dusk when the fireworks go off at Veterans Field. The event celebrates the arts and culture of the region and takes place at locations all over town. Early highlights of the festivities include an annual town photo that is taken at the Chatham Lighthouse, a bubble wrap stomp, a Carnival Caper costumed road race, a concert with the Cape Cod Jazz Quartet at the Orpheum Theater, miniature golf at the Community Center Gym, Bradley James at the Congregational Church, Keltic Kids at St. Christopher’s Chapel, Cirque du Jour at the Middle School Large Gym, Chinese Folk Dancers at the Middle School Auditorium, Ryder Martin’s Fabulous Trains at Atwood House Museum, and Horse Drawn Wagon Rides at Town Hall. Later in the day there is a Noise Parade, early low level fireworks at Veteran’s field for children that can’t wait till midnight, and finally the Countdown Cod and fireworks on Oyster Pond at midnight.

First Light in Provincetown is a five-day celebration that includes a polar bear plunge, a winter farmers market, dances, brunches, ice skating, a Sound of Music Sing-Along and fireworks on Sunday, January 1, 2017.

Here’s a quick rundown of the highlights of the events for each day of the festival.

VJ Tom Yaz plays the best videos, Bobby Weatherbee plays piano and DJ Chris Racine plays the latest dance hits at the Crown & Anchor. DJ Beth O plays at Sage Inn. DJ Dave plays at Club Purgatory. And finally there’s a New Year’s Eve Party with DJ David LaSalle, Thirsty Burlington, hats, noisemakers and a champagne toast for a $10.00 cover charge at A-House.

The final event of the festival is the Tin Pan Alley Closing Party with live entertainment.
