One of the people’s favorites is the country biscuits with chipped beef, sausage gravy, eggs, and house-made tater tot. Today, Thursday, May 28, is Sierra Club Day. This is a day to celebrate the nation’s largest environmental organization. The Sierra Club has helped protect millions of acres of wilderness. They also helped pass the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, and Endangered Species Act.

On June 3, The Sierra Club is participating in the “Blitz” on water clean up. The clean-up is from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm and starts at the Barnegat public launch area where their participants paddle their kayaks to areas designated for cleanup in the Edwin B. Forsythe National Wildlife Refuge. Garbage bags and gloves will be provided. Rental kayaks are not available. To confirm participation contact George and Leona at 609-259-3734.

Learn how to live responsibly with black bears and advocate for their protection at the Oradell Public Library in Oradell, NJ. On June 23 at 7:00 pm The Bear Education and Resource Group Coordinator, Elaine Dunn will speak about recent legislation affecting the bears and what people can do to avoid conflicts.
