Westfield celebrates the fourth with a fireworks display on June 30. The event begins at 6:30 pm with live music and local food vendors.

Westfield is celebrating the Fourth of July with a community celebration and fireworks. This year the fireworks will be staged at South Middle School on West Silver Street. The show is scheduled to begin at dusk, or about 9:00 to 9:30 pm.

The City of Westfield will be sponsoring a fireworks event on Sunday, July 2, 2017, at the South Middle School fields (30 West Silver Street). Festivities will begin at 6:30 pm with fireworks presented by Atlas Pyrovision of Jaffrey, NH at dusk. The rain date is currently scheduled for Sunday, July 2. This year’s fireworks have been made possible by major sponsors Westfield Gas & Electric, Whip City Fiber, Advance Manufacturing, City of Westfield, The Westfield News, other local businesses, and your donations.

Headlining the entertainment for the evening will be Cory and the Knightsmen starting at 7:00 pm. Vendors in attendance will be Moolicious, Angelo’s Fried Dough, Sub King, Ed’s French Fries, Kettle Korner, face painting and others.

Parking for the event is available at all city lots including South Middle School parking lot, City Hall (59 Court Street), The Senior Center (45 Noble Street), downtown municipal parking lots and limited spaces available at Abner Gibbs School (50 West Silver). Parking will also be available at Noble Hospital (115 West Silver Street), and the YMCA (67 Court Street) parking lots located at the rear of the building. All lots will provide unsecured parking. On-street parking will be available as well. People are encouraged to patronize downtown establishments prior to visiting the fireworks.

New this year, there will be a Police monitored pick up and drop off location for young adults. Firtion Adams has made available their parking lot for this purpose. Police will be in attendance, manning the lot and assisting with crossing from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm and again from 9:30 pm – 10:30 pm.

Handicapped spaces are designated at the Amelia Park Ice Arena, entrance at 21 South Broad Street.

For those traveling by bicycle, the Columbia Greenway bike trail is available for those wishing to ride. Be sure to bring your flashlight. The bike trail will be patrolled by bicycle mounted Westfield Police. Please secure your bike to a bike rack only. You may use racks at both South Middle School and the Boys and Girls Club or anywhere a bike rack is available. Temporary racks will also be available. Please remember to bring your locks to secure your ride.

Due to space constraints and safety, bikes and dogs will not be allowed on the lawn.

Crossing guards will be posted at major pedestrian intersections – South Maple/Broad/Riverside; Pleasant/West Silver; Broad/Silver. All attendees are encouraged to use caution while crossing streets and parking lots. Again, no pets, no smoking, no alcohol, and no bikes allowed on the field.
